The Egg Lab Barcelona was the brunch stop we finally made time for after days of packed sightseeing and tired legs. At its Bruc location, the warm interior and beautifully plated dishes made the morning feel a little more leisurely. We ordered three dishes for two people, and my clear favorite was Grandma’s French Toast.
This review covers our actual visit, what we ordered, the prices we paid, and the things I would do differently next time. The short version: come with some time to spare, and consider one main dish per person.
The Egg Lab Bruc: location and practical information
We visited the Bruc branch at Carrer del Bruc, 33, 08010 Barcelona, in the Eixample area. Make sure you choose this location when looking up directions, as The Egg Lab has more than one address.
The official Bruc location page lists opening hours of 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It also says reservations are not accepted. Hours and policies can change, so check the branch page before visiting.

Terrace and interior: a pretty setting for brunch

The red sign and matching parasols stood out against the Barcelona street. There were outdoor tables along the pavement, while inside the palette shifted to soft peach tones, wood and woven details.

I especially liked the rattan lamps and the patterns their light cast on the walls. The room had plenty of visual details without feeling overly elaborate. The food continued that impression: each plate arrived with a different combination of colors and textures, and I wanted to photograph everything before eating.
Morning crowds and how long the food took
We arrived in the morning and were seated without waiting, but most tables were already occupied. During our meal, the café filled completely. That was our experience on one morning, rather than a guarantee that there will always be a queue or always be a table.
Our drinks arrived quickly, while the food took noticeably longer. I did not time the wait, so I would avoid attaching a precise number to it. If you have a timed attraction booking afterward, leave a comfortable buffer rather than expecting a very quick breakfast.

What we ordered and what we paid
We ordered everything without extra toppings. These are the prices on our menu and receipt at the time of our visit, not a current-price promise.
| Item | Price paid |
|---|---|
| Burrata & Seasonal Fruit Avocado Toast | €16.00 |
| Korean Chicken Eggs Benedict | €16.90 |
| Grandma’s French Toast | €14.90 |
| Iced Americano × 2 | €9.00 (€4.50 each) |
| Total for two people | €56.80 |
Our three dishes, ranked
1. Grandma’s French Toast — my favorite

This was the dish I enjoyed most. The toast was sweet with a slightly crisp exterior, and the baked fruit on top made the combination feel a little different from a straightforward French toast.
At the table, I wondered whether the fruit was pear or quince. The menu identifies it as baked pear, with pistachio mascarpone cream and maple-and-coffee syrup.
The syrup came separately, so I dipped pieces into it rather than pouring it over the whole plate. The toast was already sweet enough for me, and adding the syrup made it quite a bit sweeter. My advice is to taste the toast first and add the syrup gradually.
2. Korean Chicken Eggs Benedict — generous and filling

The Korean Chicken Eggs Benedict was my second favorite. The seasoning felt just right to me, and the size was more substantial than I had expected from a brunch dish.
With two large egg-topped portions and potatoes alongside, it felt filling even when we split it. If you want a savory dish to share with something sweet, this is the one from our order I would choose.
3. Burrata & Seasonal Fruit Avocado Toast

The burrata toast was especially colorful, with figs and fruit that looked like peach arranged over the cheese. It is worth considering if you already enjoy fruit-and-cheese open sandwiches.
It ranked third out of our three dishes for me. That is a personal preference rather than a reason to rule it out: I simply found myself enjoying the French toast and eggs Benedict more.
Are three dishes too much for two people?
For us, yes. I wanted to try several things, but the portions were generous enough that three dishes turned out to be ambitious. One dish per person would have been a more comfortable order.
If I returned with one other person, I would consider sharing one savory dish and the French toast. That would give us the contrast I liked without quite so much food.
Would I go back to The Egg Lab Barcelona?
I enjoyed finally fitting a proper brunch into our Spain trip. The interior and plating made the visit memorable, and Grandma’s French Toast was the standout on our table.
The main practical drawbacks were the slower food service and how quickly the room filled up. I would return with a flexible morning schedule and a smaller order. If you like sweet brunch dishes, the French toast would be my first pick; if you prefer a filling savory plate, I would start with the chicken eggs Benedict.
