Pearl Shell Cheongdam Review: Oysters, Wine and Duck Confit

Pearl Shell in Cheongdam was a memorable oyster-and-wine dinner near Apgujeong Rodeo in Seoul. We started with Korean oysters and Chablis, then moved on to ragu pasta, duck confit and Shiraz. Attentive wine service was as much a part of the evening as the food.

Arrival and our booking

Exterior of Pearl Shell Cheongdam

We reserved a Friday evening table through Catchtable. The restaurant was convenient for us to reach from Apgujeong Rodeo Station, making it an easy place to meet for dinner without driving.

The corkage promotion we used

Our visit fell during a promotion advertised for July 1–August 31, 2026. At that time, the offer allowed wine without a corkage charge or a bottle limit, while replacement wine glasses cost ₩5,000.

That promotion was tied to a past period. It is not a statement that Pearl Shell currently offers free corkage. Confirm the current charge, bottle allowance and glass policy before bringing wine.

We ordered two bottles through Dailyshot and collected them from a pickup point about 100m away. That arrangement was convenient for our dinner, although pickup locations and availability can change.

A calm room for a wine dinner

Dark stone surfaces and soft lighting gave the room a polished, calm feel. It felt comfortable enough for a relaxed conversation while still having the atmosphere I would want for a date or a special dinner.

Oyster Platter L and Louis Jadot Chablis

Our platter let us compare oysters from Gangjin and Tongyeong. Their size, shape, texture and flavor were different enough to make tasting them side by side interesting. Staff explained the oysters and how to eat them, which added to the experience.

We brought Louis Jadot Chablis for this part of the meal. The bottle was warmer than expected after pickup on a hot day. Before we asked, staff noticed and began chilling it carefully, continuing to pay attention to the temperature as dinner progressed.

Ragu pasta

Ragu pasta at Pearl Shell Cheongdam

The ragu pasta made a satisfying transition from cold oysters to a warmer dish. Its meaty sauce was rich without tasting overly salty to me. I noticed a truffle aroma, but it did not overwhelm the other flavors.

Duck Confit with Poultry Jus

The duck confit cost ₩42,000 at our visit. The meat came apart easily with a fork, and the purée and mushrooms softened its rich flavor. We paired it with Bethany Blue Quarry Shiraz, whose fuller fruit suited this stage of dinner.

As we were finishing the first bottle, staff offered to change the glasses for the second wine. Together with the chilling service earlier, it made the evening feel thoughtfully paced.

Small details that added to the experience

The restroom was clean and stocked with handwash and hand cream. It was a small detail, but it reinforced the impression of a well-maintained restaurant.

My verdict

Pearl Shell worked well for us as a place to compare oysters and enjoy several dishes with wine. The platter and attentive service were the strongest reasons I would consider returning. I would check the current corkage policy before booking rather than plan around the past summer offer.
