Jeongdam-A Fish Market Songdo: Shrimp Sashimi and Grill Review

At Jeongdam-A Fish Market in Songdo, we tried the same seasonal ingredient two ways: chilled shrimp sashimi and shrimp cooked at the table. The contrast made the meal fun, but the buttery shrimp heads at the end were the dish I remembered most.

Location, parking and our bill

Name for local maps: 송도정담아어시장
Address: 90 Convensia-daero, building 502, units 112–113, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon
Location: ground-floor shops at Songdo Hillstate Complex 5
Our total: ₩118,000 for two, including additional dishes and drinks

Our visit notes listed 11 a.m.–11 p.m., last orders at 10 p.m., a weekday break from 3–5 p.m. and Monday closure. We received three hours of parking with restaurant validation. Confirm current hours, shrimp availability and parking conditions before going.

Finding the restaurant

The large blue-and-white sign made the storefront easy to recognize. Seafood menus were displayed outside the ground-floor shop.

Inside, the restaurant had the atmosphere of a local neighborhood seafood spot, with fish tanks along one side. We called ahead about shrimp sashimi because preparation could take time.

What we ordered

We ordered 500g of shrimp sashimi, 500g of grilled shrimp, mackerel sashimi, butter-grilled shrimp heads and drinks. Our ₩118,000 bill covered the whole order, not just the shrimp.

Because we had arranged the shrimp in advance, it arrived with the initial table setting. Grilled saury and corn cheese were among the side dishes, giving us something warm alongside the chilled seafood.

Shrimp sashimi: sweet and springy

Shrimp sashimi served with lemon and radish sprouts

The restaurant prepared the shrimp for us and served it with radish sprouts and lemon. I liked the springy texture and gentle sweetness. The flavor did not have the unpleasant fishy note I sometimes worry about with raw seafood.

I enjoyed the first bite without sauce to taste the shrimp itself, then tried it with the vinegared chili sauce. This describes our tasting experience; raw seafood is not suitable for every diner, so choose cooked dishes if needed.

Mackerel sashimi alongside the shrimp

The mackerel was cut into substantial pieces. Its richer, oilier flavor made a clear contrast with the lighter sweetness of the raw shrimp. I enjoyed moving between the two rather than eating only shrimp throughout the meal.

Grilled shrimp at the table

The shrimp cooked at the table under a lid. Compared with the chilled sashimi, the cooked shrimp had a firmer bite and a warmer, more savory sweetness. Being able to order 500g of each preparation meant we did not have to choose only one style.

Butter-grilled shrimp heads

After eating the grilled shrimp, we asked for the heads to be cooked in butter. The shells became crisp, and the concentrated shrimp flavor worked especially well with the butter. For me, this was more than a small extra: it was one of the highlights of the whole order.

Would I recommend it?

I would return for the combination of shrimp sashimi, table-cooked shrimp and buttery heads. Before visiting, call to check seasonal availability and ask how long the raw shrimp order will take to prepare. The portions and prices in this review describe our meal and may differ on another visit.
